The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge

Hi! I came across a cool mixed media challenge blog and since I am trying to play around more with mixed media, it seemed like a fun challenge to participate in (although very last minute). At the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge blog, the challenge this month is called "A Year Of Choices". They are celebrating their 1yr b-day so for this challenge, you can choose which technique from one of the previous challenges to use.

I chose MMMC#3. I used two different stencils and modelling paste on my canvas. I'm still trying to turn my brain off a bit and just play with technique's, have fun, and get my mind from the panic of "You're ruining it" & "You can't go back once you do that"! I'm slowly getting there;-).

Anyways, I made a canvas with a picture of my Grandparents and my Aunt Kathy (who sadly passed in December) from back in 1951. I wanted the canvas to kind of have that aged look and not a lot of color but I couldn't resist some pops of blue. Thanks so much for stopping by and looking at it!!

  1. I think you did an amazing job of creating this and I am so glad that you managed to get past the fear of 'ruining' it! Absolutely beautiful canvas - I do love the pops of blue! Thank you so much for playing with us at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge!

  2. I second what Karen said above! This is just gorgeous! I love your color choices and what a lovely composition! Beautiful textured background, too! Love it!

  3. Great job with this canvas - I love the aged look and all the elements you added! Thanks for helping us celebrate with this month's challenge!
