Hi! I came across a cool mixed media challenge blog and since I am trying to play around more with mixed media, it seemed like a fun challenge to participate in (although very last minute). At the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge blog, the challenge this month is called "A Year Of Choices". They are celebrating their 1yr b-day so for this challenge, you can choose which technique from one of the previous challenges to use.
I chose MMMC#3. I used two different stencils and modelling paste on my canvas. I'm still trying to turn my brain off a bit and just play with technique's, have fun, and get my mind from the panic of "You're ruining it" & "You can't go back once you do that"! I'm slowly getting there;-).
Anyways, I made a canvas with a picture of my Grandparents and my Aunt Kathy (who sadly passed in December) from back in 1951. I wanted the canvas to kind of have that aged look and not a lot of color but I couldn't resist some pops of blue. Thanks so much for stopping by and looking at it!!

Adored
Hello! I decided (very last minute) to join in with the June sketch challenge over at Scrap Our Stash. I loved the sketch so I stuck pretty close to it. I used a pic of my Aunt and little cousin and he is very much adored so I thought the hearts worked well. They were cut from a cork sheet and I think they are pretty awesome;-). The other part of the challenge is to make a card with the scraps from your LO. I am not really a card maker so I kept it pretty simple. Thanks for stopping by!!

discover beauty
Hi! It's getting longer and longer between my LO's. I think it was January when I last scrapped. So pathetic. But I finally felt the desire to create and joined in with a couple of my fave challenge blogs. And I'm so glad I did. I really love and miss scrapping:-).
I created a layout using the awesome sketch #141 from Sketchibilities. And I used a picture of just myself (very rare indeed:-) so that I can participate over at Challenge YOUrself. Their challenge is anything goes so I just went where the picture took me.
Before I went on scrappy hiatus, I got a lot of new Prima stuff so I have been feeling bad about not using it so the LO is pretty much all Prima Marketing Forever Green. Thanks for checking it out!!

Finnabair & Friends - Open Studio Challenge
Hello - It's been months since I have scrapped or done anything creative besides Kindergarten projects with my son (and I wasn't even feeling those). So sad. I wanted to do something creative so I decided to participate in a Finnabair challenge. I love (LOVE) her work. She is a true unique artist. But I am always too scared and overthink mixed-media so I never tried her style before.
The challenge is to take some background technique inspiration from the Creative Team and utilize it in your project. I did a canvas inspired by the oh so talented Rebecca Morris. I love the textures and colors in her work. Really wanted to try some cobalt blue! She absolutely rocks that color. I used drywall tape and art basics gesso and modeling paste from her background tutorial. I then sprayed with some Prima Color Blooms and Ranger Distressed Spray Stain.
I am certainly no expert but I had fun experimenting and playing...and that is the point, right?! I just need to turn my brain off a bit:-). I will definitely be doing some more MM projects!!

Local Travels
Hello! I am on a roll. My third LO for January. Not much for most people but I had not scrapped for over two months so I am happy to be getting some done.
I created a layout inspired by the January 15th sketch over at Stuck?! Sketches. I really love those layers and wanted play that up in my LO.
I was also inspired by the case file #152 at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration. It's a fun color palette and worked good with a picture of my boys. For the evidence I used: Polka dots, scallops, triangles, and watercolor background. For my Testimony (on the back), I used a journaling prompt from Paper Wishes.
Thanks so much for looking!!

Tis the season to be Merry & Giving
Hi all! I am back with my second LO after an over two month scrapbooking hiatus...hope I can keep it going. I know Christmas is over but I did not complete any during my hiatus and this will be the one and only for the season. We were at the mall and my son donated a new bear for the children in the hospital.
I really wanted to complete the last couple of challenges at Creative Scrappers because, sadly, they will be the last. It is one of the first scrapbooking challenge blogs I 'stalked' and played along with before I started my blog. Kristine Davidson gathered some of the most inspirational scrappers/sketch designers through the years with versatile styles and I will miss seeing the reveals. Anyways, this LO is based on sketch #285.
I also played along with Scrap Our Stash challenge #22. You have to include an item from your stash for each letter in the word T-W-I-N-E. I used twine, of course, for the T. Wood embellishments for the W. I inked the edges of the papers to make them pop a bit for the letter I. The naughty and nice stickers are for the N (naughty crossed out for being so nice to donate). And lastly, enamel dots for the E. I love their stash challenges, so fun.
Thanks so much for looking!!

Love
Hello fellow crafty Ladies!! I have not scrapped anything for over two months and I am happy that I was finally able to make something. It's been a rough couple of months with colds, flu, Holidays, and the illness and unexpected passing of my dear Aunt Kathy. It was rough on all of us and especially my Mom and Grandma. My crafty mojo completely disappeared. Hopefully this new year will bring it back.
I made a layout inspired by the wonderful sketch #130 at Sketchabilities. I adore Karan's sketches! It was just the thing to get my creative juices flowing once I decided to even try to scrap.
I was also inspired by the beautiful January mood board over at Scrap around the World. I took my inspiration from the patina type color (so I primarily used teal colors) and the clock and keys. Sometimes you start out with a certain thought on a mood board and that can change once you start looking through your supplies and scrapping. One thing I love about mood boards.
